Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Greater love hath no man than God,
To decide beforehand to walk this filthy land.
Greater love hath no man than to settle for a manger when his kingdom is way mightier than an INN… and in this world, you came knowing what was in your friends. Our hearts didn’t look like yours, and you knew the consequence,
But you refused to leave without our orphan status being past tense.
Greater love hath no man
Than the holiest of holy ones to dwell among lowly men,
To wash our feet, to eat from our hands.
We were lost, you gathered us, saw our pain, took it on yourself, and you wept.
You were awake praying while sinful men slept.
Your cup of suffering they knew not, I bet.
Our sinful souls were open wounds upon your back,
Our prideful hearts upon you we spat,
Our twisted nature around your head we wrapped.
And in spite of all that,
You poured out your blood,
A sacrifice for an unworthy man.
Greater love showed no other God than Christ, who died for us.
John 15:13 (KJV)
