Why Do You Feel Stuck?
If you know why you feel stuck, great! That’s a solid start. You can begin by addressing that particular situation. But I’m writing from the perspective that you feel stuck and don’t know why, so this is for everyone.
Revisit Your “Why“
Why do you want to get unstuck? Maybe you have a project to complete, you’re working on being better in your relationships, or you just want to feel a sense of purpose and direction. Revisiting your “why” can be a great starting point and add a little wind beneath your sails.
Change Your Routine
It’s crazy how we can go through the motions without even realizing it. But maybe your routine isn’t serving you. For example, if you used to journal before your shower, change it: take a shower first, put on some fresh, comfy clothes, sit in a different spot in the house with your coffee (or your favorite drink), and then journal. Give yourself some time to get unstuck and unwind. And most importantly, show yourself grace during this time.
Slow Down
Do things at half speed, well, not exactly, but you get the idea. Feeling stuck often comes from moving too fast and doing too much. So to get unstuck, you have to do something different. It might seem counterintuitive, but burnout could be the real issue. Slow down and notice the little things—the smell of your breakfast, how your body feels in the morning, or what’s happening around you during your commute.
Digital Detox
Nothing keeps you stuck like mindless scrolling. We often scroll to escape our current situation or avoid our feelings. Plus, comparing yourself to others online can make you feel even more stuck than you really are. Take a break from the screen for a while—your mind will thank you.
Try Journaling
I’m a big advocate for journaling.
Journaling helps you get your thoughts on paper and makes them closer to becoming actions. It also helps you think more clearly—and trust me, you’ll need that clarity.
Journal Prompts to Help You Get Unstuck
- What’s one limiting belief I hold, and how can I reframe it to move forward?
Challenge the thoughts or beliefs that might be keeping you stuck and find a way to shift your perspective. - What’s one thing I’ve been putting off, and what’s holding me back from doing it?
Reflect on the reasons behind procrastination and how you can overcome them. - If I could start over today, what would my perfect morning look like?
Visualize your ideal routine and how you can begin to incorporate aspects of it into your current life. - What is one small change I can make to feel more energized today?
Explore small adjustments that could have a big impact on your mood and productivity. - When was the last time I felt truly inspired, and what was I doing at that moment?
Reconnect with the activities or environments that sparked inspiration and see if they can bring you back to that flow.
Spend Time on Hobbies
Never underestimate the power of a hobby. In a busy world, a little aimlessness can be good. No goal in mind, no monetary gain—just being. It can refresh your soul, help you get unstuck, and inspire you to take on whatever life brings. There’s power in rest. Have you ever heard of a dopamine menu? Start there. Exercise
Maybe you just need some feel-good hormones in your life. When you work out, you get a natural high from endorphins (those ‘feel-good’ hormones). Plus, you get a sense of accomplishment, increased energy (not a joke, haha), mental clarity, and boosted self-esteem. Try adding a quick workout to your daily routine—start small, even if it’s just a walk. Walks, in particular, help me a lot to get unstuck because they help me work through my thoughts

My mantra: motivation is overrated. But in this case, you might need a little jump-start from a loved one, a book, or your favorite podcast. Don’t be afraid to invite others into your journey. Since we all face this at some point, they might have some tips to share. Sometimes, getting unstuck comes from the support and perspective of others.
