So you asked
Out of all the other gods…
why Jesus?
Jesus
He is everything to me.
To me,
He is a father and a brother,
Sticks closer than a friend.
He is my daily meds.
He is a doctor, a high priest.
He is a teacher and a therapist.
Yes, they call Him Counselor.
You see,
He addresses the undressed issue in the closet of my heart,
that couldn’t simply be dressed up.
Long skirts and head wraps couldn’t wrap my broken heart like His stripes did.
Cute dresses and church hats cover up, but He blots out.
My high heels alone couldn’t elevate me to the level of His holiness.
And the ugliness inside couldn’t be made up,
couldn’t be concealed.
And this flesh…
wasn’t blushing with me.
So I needed Him as my foundation.
Ceremonial washing couldn’t seep through this robe of flesh.
Couldn’t reach this rock
In the center of my chest.
The actions of Mother Eve were still crawling through my veins.
And I became a walking dead.
I needed blood.
And only a blood transfusion could help.
It turned out we had the same blood type.
I was hungry.
So His flesh was ripped so I could eat.
Sides pierced so I could drink.
Not only that,
We are getting ready to face a just judge.
And the price for our crime wouldn’t be just time.
Our sin is considered a felony under God’s law,
and we were all sentenced to death—
life in hell.
So He…
Became sin, yet He knew no sin.
Relatable was the realness of guilt
and shame to Him.
He didn’t stay behind that veil.
He was revealed.
My high priest.
Till today He intercedes.
How can I forget the sacrifice of blood?
God’s one and only Son
Paid full price for my sins.
Death, where is your sting?
You were once a killer, but now you’ve been killed.
Jesus
The way, the truth, the life (John 14:6)
“Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
You asked why Jesus?
Why not Jesus?
